MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411020660 A) filed by Shobhit Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on March 19, 2024, for 'automated drilling device for pipe.'
Inventor(s) include Dhruv Joshi; Jitendra Kumar Singh Jadon; Neha Yajurvedi; and Abhishek Dabas.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated drilling device for pipe, comprising a platform 1, a camera 2 capturing multiple images of pipe, a touch enabled screen 3 allowing user to select a location and dimension of hole required by user, multiple wheels 4 rotate for positioning platform 1 at selected location in virtue of facilitating drilling of pipe, a plate 5 configured on a pair of telescopically operated rods 6 for providing support to pipe while drilling, a capacitive sensor detecting type of material for actuating multiple hinges configured in between each of blocks 7 to tilt each of blocks 7 to facilitate gripping of pipe, and a Geneva arrangement 10 integrated between shaft 9 and cylindrical unit 11 is actuated by microcontroller to facilitate drilling of pipe via hole saw cutter, thereby drilling user-desired dimension of hole in pipe."
