MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411023479 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on March 25, 2024, for 'automated drilling assistive device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated drilling assistive device, comprising an inverted U-shaped frame 1 installed over a fixed surface, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 2 generates a 3-dimensional map of surrounding, a touch interactive display panel 3 accessed by a user for selecting a point on a metallic component on surface, a holding unit 4 is accessed by user for engaging a drilling machine on holding unit 4, that is gripped by motorized clamping units 5 integrated on holding unit 4, an ultrasonic sensor determines distance between drill bit and point on surface, a hydraulic actuator 6 positions drill bit at point, a speaker 7 notifies user to switch on machine for performing drilling operation at point, a gyroscopic arrangement 8 monitors angle of frame 1 with respect to surface, and plurality of motorized grippers 9 grip surface to stabilize frame 1 on surface."
