MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311088292 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Dec. 22, 2023, for 'automated dining table cleaning system.'

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated dining table cleaning system, comprises of a vertical platform 1 positioned at a first side 2 of a dining table 3 and arranged with an extendable cylindrical body 4 that extends/retracts as per width of table 3, an imaging unit 6 for detecting presence of leftover food/waste on table 3, a pair of telescopically operated grippers 11 for unwrapping one of polythene bag from roller 9 and engaging handles of polythene bag with a pair of hooks 12, a telescopically operated pusher 13 for translating body 4 from first side 2 towards second side 8, a motorized cover 14 to allow discarding leftover food and waste in polythene bag engaged with hooks 12 within chamber 7, multiple primary 15 and secondary electronic sprayers 16 for dispensing water and sanitizing solution in view of cleaning and sanitizing table 3, a sealing unit for sealing polythene bag."
