MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411006905 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 1, 2024, for 'automated debris removal device for drain.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Ishpreet Singh; Harpreet Kaur; Dr. Arvinder Kaur; Preeti Rani; Sayak Ghosh; and Dr. Amresh Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 8, under issue no. 32/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated debris removal device for drain, comprising a housing 1 attached with a touch enabled screen 3 accessed by a user to give input commands for cleaning a drain, a camera 4 detects exact location of drain, four omnidirectional wheels 2 maneuvers housing 1, a telescopically operated link 5 extends for aligning an extendable bar 6 with opening of drain, a DC motor rotates bar 6 for inserting bar 6 within drain, two extendable plates 7 configured with bar 6 which extend as per diameter detected by a laser acuity sensor and followed by retraction of bar 6 to pull out debris from drain, a ring 8 installed on housing 1 and configured with plurality of curved-shaped members 9 by means of a motorized circular slider for positioning the members 9 away from each other for forming the canopy to prevent debris from falling on housing 1."
