MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411024912 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 27, 2024, for 'automated coconut peeling and sorting device.'

Inventor(s) include Anu Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 7, under issue no. 45/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated coconut peeling and sorting device, comprises a platform 1 positioned on a ground surface and installed with a container 2 stored with multiple coconuts, a touch enabled screen 3 enables the user to give input commands, a conveyer 4 translates the coconuts towards plurality of inverted U-shaped members 5, an imaging unit 7 captures images of the coconut, multiple telescopically operated rods 6 extends/retracts to position the members 5 in proximity to the coconuts, a motorized roller 8 rotates in contact with the coconuts to peel the coconut by spokes, telescopically operated gripper 9 grips and positions coconuts in a chamber 10, a Peltier unit cools coconuts, a pair of robotic arms 12 collects coconut from chamber 10, an IR counter counts number of peeled coconuts."
