MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441078342 A) filed by Jain, Bangalore, Karnataka, on Oct. 15, 2024, for 'automated coconut de-husking device.'

Inventor(s) include Gopalakrishna Vishweshwar Gaonkar.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated coconut de-husking device, comprising a body 1 positioned on a fixed surface, a multi-sectioned chamber 2 that is accessed by a pair of robotic arms 3 to grip a coconut stored in the chamber 2, a cutting unit 4 with a pair of vertical triangular blades 5 arranged inside the body 1 for accommodating the gripped coconut on the cutting unit 4, a hydraulically operated bar 6 for providing thumping movement of a plate 7, a motorized hinge joint 8 allowing the coconut to pass through the blades 5, an angle sensor monitors angle of the accommodated coconut with respect to the blades 5, a pair of motorized rollers 9 by means of a pair of motorized sliding units 10 to translate the rollers 9 along the sliding units 10, plurality of sharp wedges 11 for shaving of outer portion of the coconut."
