MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411017914 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on March 12, 2024, for 'automated cloth sorting device for laundry.'

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated cloth sorting device for laundry, comprising a housing 1 having an artificial intelligence based camera which detects presence of user, a fabric sensor installed at a cylindrical member 3 attached with housing 1 to detect type of fabric, a motorized iris lid 4 open and followed by activation of a suction unit to draw cloth within housing 1, six plates 5 attached vertically within housing 1 and connected with each other via four motorized hinges 6 that orients plates 5 for forming multiple rectangular sections for storing cloth in various rectangular sections, a microphone 7 for feeding voice command regarding need of cloth and accordingly hinges 6 moves plate 5 to allow user to take cloth, an ultraviolet light 8 emit ultraviolet rays to disinfect cloth, a laser sensor detects condition of cloth, a suction pump 9 draws clean cloth in a chamber 10 attached with housing 1."
