MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511113819 A) filed by Rayat Bahra University; Bahra University; and Rayat Bahra Professional University, Mohali, Punjab, on Nov. 19, 2025, for 'automated chestnut peeling and management device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated chestnut peeling and management device, comprising a cylindrical housing 101 configured with multiple suction cups 102 for securing housing 101 on a fixed surface, a hopper 103 enable a user to feed chestnuts intended for peeling, a microphone 104 enabling user to provide input voice commands to peel chestnuts, a motorized iris lid open/close for gradually dispensing chestnuts in a hollow L-shaped tubular member 105, a motorized sliding unit 106 translating chestnuts towards a second end of member 105, a conveyer belt 107 equipped with multiple C-shaped clamps 108, for enabling clamps 108 to securely grip chestnut, an imaging unit 109 determine presence of chestnut in clamps 108, an extendable rod 111 extending to align nut with cutter 110, to precisely remove shell of chestnut, multiple pop-out balls 112 rotates to provide controlled movement to chestnut to allow cutter 110 remove entire shell."
