MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411025591 A) filed by Shobhit Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on March 28, 2024, for 'automated cherry harvesting and collection device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated cherry harvesting and collection device comprises of a platform 1 positioned on a ground surface, a computing unit installed with a user-interface for enabling a user to give input commands for harvesting cherries from the trees, an imaging unit 3 for detecting exact location of the trees, multiple motorized omnidirectional wheels 2 configured underneath the platform 1 for manoeuvring and positioning the platform 1, a pair of curved-shaped extendable members 8 to extend, an ultrasonic sensor for detecting diameter of bark of the tree, a drawer arrangement in synchronization with pair of motorized pivot joints 9 for tilting and deploying the members 8, a conveyer 7 to transfer the cherries, a color sensor to detects rotten cherries on the conveyer 7, and a robotic arm for picking and discarding the rotten cherries."
