MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411007038 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 2, 2024, for 'automated brick cutting device.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Sukhpreet Kaur; Parneet Kaur; Abhishek Kumar; Aakriti; Dr. Sachin Mohal; and Piyush Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 8, under issue no. 32/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated brick cutting device, comprises of a housing 1 affixed over a ground surface by means of multiple suction cups 2, a pair of motorized sliding units 3 arranged with an extendable platform 4 accommodates bricks positioned by user, an imaging unit 5 for determining presence of brick in proximity and accordingly actuates pair of motorized sliding units 3 to position platform 4 out of housing 1 for enabling user to position brick, a robotic gripper 6 to grip and position brick over a pair of horizontal bars 7, a microphone 8 to receive user's voice command, a two-axis lead screw arrangement 9 for providing translation to a wedge shaped cutter 10 to position cutter 10 over brick, a ball and socket joint 11 to align cutter 10 at appropriate angle, a hydraulic unit 12 to provide extension/retraction to cutter 10 towards brick in view of cutting brick."
