MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411025427 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 28, 2024, for 'automated book scanning device.'
Inventor(s) include Satarupa Mitra.
The application for the patent was published on Nov. 7, under issue no. 45/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated book scanning device, comprising a housing 1 positioned on a ground surface and installed with a V-shaped member 2 to scan a book that is placed on the member 2, a touch enabled screen 3 is installed on the housing 1 for enabling a user to give input commands for scanning the book, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 4 installed at a ceiling portion of the housing 1 for scanning the book, a motorized two-axis lead screw arrangement 5 for providing suitable bi-directional motion to the imaging unit 4 in view of scanning entire page of the book, a motorized clamp 6 installed within the housing 1 for turning pages of the book in view of allowing scanning of entire book and an air blower 7 mounted within the housing 1 for blowing air in view of removing dust from the book."
