MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411020098 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 18, 2024, for 'automated bicycle chain engaging device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated bicycle chain engaging device, comprising a cuboidal body 1 placed over a ground surface in proximity to a bicycle by means of plurality of motorized omnidirectional wheels 2, an imaging unit 3 determines dimension of wheels 2 of bicycle, a proximity sensor monitors distance of bicycle, a pair of telescopic clamps 4 grips wheels 2, a microphone 5 receives voice command of user, an acoustic sensor monitors thickness of lubrication over crank ring and chain, a dust sensor monitors presence of dust over bicycle, an air nozzle 10 removes dust, an pressure sensor monitors air pressure within tube of bicycle, a robotic arm 6 attached positions motorized master wrench 7 over detected nuts, a laser sensor monitors dimension of nut(s), a first extendable robotic gripper 8 detaches bicycle cover and position over body 1, and a second extendable robotic gripper 9 grips crankset of bicycle."
