MUMBAI, India, Sept. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441012492 A) filed by JAIN, Bangalore, Karnataka, on Feb. 21, 2024, for 'automated betel quid preparation device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. S. Nagaraj.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 5, under issue no. 36/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated betel quid preparation device, comprising a platform 1 attached with a multi-sectioned chamber 4 via a column 5 for storing various ingredients, a touch interactive display panel 6 accessed by user to input type of betel quid, a robotic gripper 7 withdraws a betel and places over a plate 14 attached with column 5 which is detected by a weight sensor, multiple suction units 8 assembled on plate 14 for affixing with betel, a telescopic bar 9 extends and positions a disc 10 above plate 14, multiple nozzle 11 connected with chamber 4 for dispensing ingredients over betel which is spread by a robotic link configured with a roller 13, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit determines successful spreading of ingredients, two robotic grippers 12 grips one side of leaf and a motorized roller 13 rotates both grippers 12 for rolling of leaf."
