MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441007324 A) filed by Jain, Bangalore, Karnataka, on Feb. 2, 2024, for 'automated betel quid preparation device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated betel quid preparation device comprises of a platform 1 developed to be installed on a ground surface and arranged with multiple rods 2 that provides support to platform 1 on surface, a multi-sectioned chamber 4 attached with a column 5 for storing various ingredients, a display panel 7 for enabling a user to input details, a robotic gripper 8 for placing betel over a plate 9, multiple suction units 10 to secure betel over plate 9, multiple electronic nozzle for dispensing ingredients over betel, a robotic link 14 assembled with a roller 15 for spreading dispensed ingredients over betel, an imaging unit 16 for determining successful spreading of ingredients, multiple motorized hinge joints 17 for providing movement to multiple flaps 18 that results in folding of betel and a pneumatic pusher 19 to push folded betel in order to secure ingredients inside betel."
