MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411020088 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 18, 2024, for 'automated barricading device.'

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 10, under issue no. 41/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated barricading device, comprising a platform 1 affixed beneath surface of a road up-to a predefined distance by means of plurality of spikes arranged beneath the platform, hydraulic rod 3 actuates to provide extension to barricading members 2 to protrude out from surface to create a barricading on road, artificial intelligence based imaging unit 4 for capturing images of the road to determine presence of an approaching vehicle on the road, hinge joint 6 to tilt cylindrical units 5 to orient the members 2 at a pre-defined angle to restrict passage of two-wheeler, radar gun 7 to monitor speed of approaching vehicle, motorized expanding arrangement 8 to increase surface area of cylindrical units 5 for enabling the members 2 to bear impact of vehicle and nozzles 9 linked with a water reservoir 10 to spray water over detected flame."
