MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441076690 A) filed by JAIN, Bangalore, Karnataka, on Oct. 9, 2024, for 'automated barnacle removing device from turtles.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated barnacle removing device from turtles comprises of a platform 1 positioned over a ground surface by means of plurality of suction cups 2 that affix the platform 1 with the surface, a touch interactive display panel 3 installed over the platform 1 to enable the user to provide command, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 4 installed over the platform 1 for capturing and processing images of the turtle, plurality of telescopic clamps 5 installed over the platform 1 to extend and grip the turtle, robotic arm installed over the platform 1 to position a wedge shaped member between the barnacle and shell, a robotic gripper 6 installed over the platform 1 to grip the lifted barnacle, a container 7 is arranged over the platform 1 and accessed by the arm to collect the removed barnacles within the container 7."
