MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531019850 A) filed by Siksha O Anusandhan, Bhubaneswar, Orissa, on March 5, for 'automated band tying device.'

Inventor(s) include Sanjay Kumar Jena.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 28, under issue no. 48/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated band tying device, comprises of a disc integrated with a handle 102 for acquiring a grip on the disc, multiple extendable bars 103 that are accessed by a user for engaging a rubber band on the bars 103, an imaging unit 105 integrated with the disc to determine presence of the band engaged on the bars 103, a motorized clipper 106 integrated at end of the bars 103 to acquire a grip on the engaged band, an ultrasonic sensor integrated on the disc for determining dimensions of any object/package positioned in proximity to the disc, a proximity sensor integrated on the disc and synced with the imaging unit 105 for monitoring distance of the bars 103 from the object/package, and a motorized gripper 109 mounted on the disc to grip and move the stretched band from the bars 103 for tying the band on the object/package."
