MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411012447 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 21, 2024, for 'automated bamboo splitting device.'

Inventor(s) include Charanpreet Kaur.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated bamboo splitting device, comprises of a platform 1 positioned on a fixed surface, a touch enabled screen 2 accessed by a user to provide input for cutting the bamboo, a camera 3 to detect dimensions and orientation of bamboo, plurality of motorized clamps 4 installed on platform 1 via a set of telescopically operated pushers 5 to grip and align the bamboo horizontally with a motorized cutter 6 arranged on platform 1 via a motorized slider 7 to cut the bamboo, an inverted U-shaped frame 8 installed with a telescopically operated link 9 attached with a blade 10 to remove septa from the bamboo, a pair of motorized sliding unit to properly remove septa from entire bamboo via the blade 10 and a speaker 12 to notify the user to collect the splitted bamboo."
