MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411012984 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 22, 2024, for 'automated article packaging device.'

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated article packaging device, comprises of a platform 1 manually placed with an article, a touch enabled screen 2 enabling user to input commands, a camera 3 for detecting dimensions of article, a rod 4 with multiple links 5 arranged in cross-linked structure, multiple pivot joints 6 for tilting links 5 for enclosing article between structure, pair of L-shaped bars 7 arranged configured with a plate 9 via a shaft 10 for aligning plates 9 across article and shaft 10 extends/retracts for gripping article between plates 9, a gripper 11 for gripping a free-end of a packing sheet 12 wrapped on a spool 13 and engaging sheet 12 with article, a DC motor for rotating plates 9 such that packing sheet 12 gets wrapped on article, a first robotic arm 14 for cutting sheet 12 via a blade 15, a second robotic arm 16 for changing orientation of article."
