MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411023165 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 24, 2024, for 'automated animal feeding assistive device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A automated animal feeding assistive device, comprises of a body 1 developed to be positioned on a ground surface, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 2 for capturing multiple images in vicinity of the body 1, an ultrasonic sensor integrated on the body 1 for monitoring heap of feed material present in front of each of the animals, a telescopically operated L-shaped rod 5 for positioning the disc 4 over the heap, a heating unit integrated on the disc 4 to dry the material in order to prevent degradation of the material, multiple curved plates 6 arranged vertically underneath the disc 4 to allow the animal to easily feed on the material, a pair of motorized grippers 7 to grab and transfer a portion of the material from a particular animal's feed heap having low feed capacity."
