MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621040804 A) filed by Gokul Global University, Patan, Gujarat, on March 31, for 'automated almond peeling device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated almond peeling device, comprises of a housing 101, a sorting unit configured to separate almonds based on a quality metric, a soaking compartment 102 configured to receive almonds from the sorting unit and submerge them in a fluid, a peeling arrangement configured to receive almonds from the soaking compartment 102 and remove skins therefrom, a control unit communicatively coupled to the sorting, soaking, and peeling arrangements to coordinate a peeling process, the peeling arrangement comprises a plurality of rollers 105, wherein surfaces of the rollers 105 are covered in rubber spikes to frictionally remove the skins, the sorting unit comprises a Near-Infrared (NIR) sensor configured to assess the quality of the almonds and a sorter conveyor 103 to divert almonds based on the assessment."
