MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631013162 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology, Rourkela, Orissa, on Feb. 6, for 'automated adaptive sit-to-stand device with integrated walking assistance.'
Inventor(s) include Khan, Prof. Mohammed Rajik; Kumar, Abhijeet; and Verma, Ashish.
The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclose is an automated adaptive sit-to-stand cum walking assistive device (97) comprising a mobile base frame comprising four-legged mobile base structure (5, 6, 7, 8) mounted on a plurality of caster wheels (9, 10, 11, 12) and a plurality of vertical support shafts (1, 2, 3, 4) fixed to the base frame and extending therefrom. The device (97) further includes a pantograph mechanism (17, 18) arranged in parallel planes and mounted in between the vertical support shafts (1, 2, 3, 4) and the mobile base frame and a plurality of electric actuators (13, 15 and 14, 16) operatively connected to the pantograph mechanism (17, 18). A hand-arm-shoulder support assembly (25a) is connected to the pantograph mechanism (17, 18). A synchronized actuation of the linear electric actuators (13, 14, 15, 16) drives the pantograph mechanism (17, 18) to lift and thereafter retract a user along selectable sit-to-stand trajectories."
