MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411006197 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 30, 2024, for 'assistive rebar cage formation device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Ishpreet Singh; Harpreet Kaur; Sachin Majithia; and Dr. Sanjeev Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 1, under issue no. 31/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An assistive rebar cage formation device, comprises of a curve shaped frame 1 having a first and second portion and developed to be positioned in proximity to a rebar(s) that user desires to bend, an ultrasonic sensor for detecting distance between first portion and rebar, a touch interactive display panel 4 frame 1 for enabling user to input details regarding an angle at which user desires to bend rebar, an imaging unit 8 for capturing and processing images of surroundings of frame 1, a robotic gripper 9 for gripping and securing junction, a motorized roller 10 for rotating in its axis to wind and unwind a wire, a laser sensor for detecting length of unwrapped wire, a pair of hooks 13 for gripping each end of wire and a circular actuator for providing rotational motion to ends in order to secure wire on junction which results in securing of junction."
