MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411073967 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Sept. 30, 2024, for 'assistive door entrance device for physically handicapped.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Saurabh Sharma; Dr. Supriya Agnihotri; Amrit; and Vaibhavi.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An assistive door entrance device for physically handicapped comprises a pair of U-shaped bodies 1 developed to be positioned on jambs of a door of an entrance, bodies 1 are configured with plurality of suction units 2 affixing with surface of the jabs and secure the bodies 1 on the entrance, a camera 3 mounted on the body for capturing multiple images of surroundings, a pair of L-shaped rods 4 attached with each of the bodies 1 and integrated with a rectangular plate 5 for aligning the plate 5, plurality of electromagnets configured on sides of the plate 5 for affixing the plate 5, a set of motorized clamps 6 are integrated over the plate 5 that are actuated by microcontroller for gripping the wheelchair's frame, and a pair of motorized sliders 7 configured between the plate 5 and clamps 6 for translating the clamps 6."
