MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521045443 A) filed by Saurabh Harishchand Gupta, Pune, Maharashtra, on May 11, 2025, for 'assembly mechanism for oil filter casting using pneumatic press.'

Inventor(s) include Dr Deepa Jamnik; Vidya Menoki; Minal Jungare; Meenakshi Patil; Rupali Salunkhe; Hetal Thaker; Dr Mandakini Dahiwade; Pallavi Chavan; Sudhir Sawarkar; and Dr Awantika Bizwe.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "In the present day scenario there is rapid increase in total number of vehicles on road and no doubt that there is substantial increase in the demand for various automobile components. Also vehicles today require frequent maintenance and the breakdown of these components have increased. Hence spare parts also have to be readily available. In Automobiles, oil filter is one of these essential components and is required to filter and to remove contaminants from engine oil, transmission oil, lubricating oil, or hydraulic oil. To meet the increasing demands, the production rates of these components have to be increased. This can be achieved by reducing the manufacturing time per component. But in most cases this may result in rise in overall cost. Hence we need to balance both these factors so as to minimize cost and maximize productivity. Going by above guidelines our project objective is to increase the production rate of oil filter with small increase in the initial cost. Here we design an assembly mechanism for oil filter casting in order to combine production rates of two batches into one and thus increasing productivity by reducing the cycle time per component."
