MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311088262 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Dec. 22, 2023, for 'artificial intelligence-enabled mosquito repelling device.'

Inventor(s) include Shivam Pandey; Dr. Vikas Wasson; Anjana Sharma; Ayon Somaddar; Ekta Bhardwaj; and Utkarsh Pathak.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An artificial intelligence-enabled mosquito repelling device, includes a body 1 installed within an enclosure, an multi-spectral imaging unit 2 detects presence of mosquitoes within enclosure, a processing unit linked with a database determines genera of detected mosquitoes and corresponding pathogenicity of determined genera, a chamber 3 arranged within body 1 for storing a mosquito repellent solution, a dispenser stick 4 is configured at base of chamber 3 and integrated with a metallic filament 5 that vaporize solution, a member 6 arranged over chamber 3 and connected via an opening 7 for storing vapors, an acoustic sensor 9 synced with imaging unit 2 for monitoring angular range of mosquitoes with respect to member 6, multiple rotatable nozzles 10 integrated on member 6 orient in direction of monitored angular range to dispense stored vapors by utilizing swarm communication protocols pre-fed in processing unit, towards mosquitoes to repel mosquitoes from enclosure."
