MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411020038 A) filed by Shobhit Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on March 18, 2024, for 'artificial intelligence-based automated tree pruning device.'

Inventor(s) include M. Moni; Manoj Kumar; Surbhi; and Vikas Yadav.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An artificial intelligence-based automated tree pruning device characterizes a frame 1 equipped with imaging unit 2 that captures multiple surrounding images, which are displayed on a display panel 3 attached to frame 1, allowing user to select the desired length of tree for pruning, pair of C-shaped clamps 4 with motorized hinge joints arranged on frame 1 that grip the tree's trunk for securing the frame 1, a L-shaped rod 5, operated by a hydraulic plunger 6, extends from the frame 1 and includes a tire on its free end, providing stability on trunk, multiple track wheels 7 embedded on inner periphery of frame 1, allowing the frame 1 to move along trunk up to the specified height, with clamps 4 fitted with sharp blade 8 that move along with the frame 1, enabling the cutting of branches up to the specified length for efficient tree pruning."
