MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621022859 A) filed by Rajarambapu Institute Of Technology, Walwa, Maharashtra, on Feb. 26, for 'artificial intelligence based adaptive elevator control and energy optimization system.'
Inventor(s) include Vishal Amit Patil; Swarup Kulkarni; Vrushal Deshmukh; Shrinivas Mungarwadi; Prof. J. M Mulla; Dr. Shailesh Shriguppikar; Dr. Vaibhav S. Ganachari; and Prof. Amol B Chavan.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Artificial Intelligence Based Adaptive Elevator Control and Energy Optimization System This invention describes an artificial intelligence driven adaptive elevator control system is disclosed for optimizing vertical transportation in high-density building environments. The system employs predictive passenger flow modeling based on historical traffic patterns, time-of-day usage data, and real-time call inputs to anticipate demand and proactively allocate elevator service. Real-time occupancy monitoring utilizing weight-based load assessment and thermal density detection enables continuous verification of cabin load conditions and prevents overcrowding through dynamic service adjustments. Coordinated multi-car control redistributes service calls among elevators to maintain balanced utilization and reduce passenger wait times. A regenerative braking mechanism captures kinetic energy generated during downward, high-load travel and redirects the recovered energy for reuse within the building's electrical infrastructure. In emergency conditions, the system overrides predictive optimization and transitions to evacuation-priority operation, ensuring safe, efficient, and balanced passenger movement. The invention enhances operational efficiency, passenger safety, and energy sustainability in multi-elevator systems deployed within dense-use vertical transportation environments."
