MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517035940 A) filed by Essilor International; and Corporation De Lecole Polytechnique De Montreal, Charenton-le-Pont, France, on April 14, for 'article coated with a low refractive index layer based on organic silsesquioxane compounds.'

Inventor(s) include Shelemin Artem; Zabeida Oleg; Martinu Ludvik; Maitre Nicolas; and Trottier Lapointe William.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 8, under issue no. 32/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an article comprising a substrate having at least one main surface coated with a layer A having a refractive index lower than or equal to 1.55 wherein said layer A was obtained by deposition of activated species issued from at least one silsesquioxane compound C in gaseous substituted with R1 R2 R3 R4 R5 R6 R7 and R8 groups independently selected from the group consisting of alkyl aryl vinyl acrylic methacrylic substituted alkyl and OSiRaRbRc in which Ra Rb and Rc independently represent H alkyl vinyl aryl hydroxyl or a hydrolyzable group with the proviso that Ra Rb and Rc are not all selected from H or a hydrolyzable group."

The patent application was internationally filed on Nov. 13, 2023, under International application No.PCT/EP2023/081635.
