MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641021703 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 24, for 'ar musculoskeletal assessment system.'

Inventor(s) include Vignesh Balachandar; Dr. Manisha Jayakumar; and Dr. Deepak Nallaswamy Veeraiyan.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses an augmented reality-based physiotherapy assessment system integrating range of motion analysis, postural and balance evaluation, and thermal imaging. The system employs an RGB camera for computer vision-based skeletal tracking to compute joint range of motion without body-worn sensors. Postural alignment and balance are assessed using a force plate that measures ground reaction forces and center-of-pressure data, which are analyzed using artificial intelligence to identify abnormalities and instability. An infrared thermal camera provides non-contact temperature mapping, visualized as r~:al-time augmented overlays. The system enables objective, multi-parameter assessment through a unified AR interface."
