MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511117917 A) filed by Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Nov. 27, 2025, for 'apparatus for real-time identification of road surface damage.'
Inventor(s) include Neha Garg; Dr. Amit Garg; Shashwat Chouhan; Simran Dobal; Vaibhav Tripathi; and Yash Rajpoot.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An apparatus (100) for automated detection of road defects is disclosed. Said apparatus (100) comprises a mounting platform (102) secured to a mobile carrier (104). An imaging unit (106) supported by said mounting platform (102) captures road-surface images. An inertial measurement unit (110) supported by said mounting platform (102) generates motion signals. A positioning unit (114) provides location data. A processing unit (118) receives image data, motion signals and location data from said imaging unit (106), said inertial measurement unit (110) and said positioning unit (114). Defect records (120) are generated by said processing unit (118) through fusion of said image data, said motion signals and said location data. Said apparatus (100) enables identification, localisation and recording of road-surface defects during movement of said mobile carrier (104) and supports continuous road-condition assessment across varying environments."
