MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441016566 A) filed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited; and Indian Institute Of Technology Kanpur, Bengaluru, Karnataka, on March 7, 2024, for 'apparatus for neutralizing flying objects.'

Inventor(s) include Bommisetty Bhavya Anoohya; Sridharsan K S; Rohan Siwach; Dipanjan Roy; Dr. Debopam Das; and Dharambir Poddar.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Neutralizing mechanism according to the invention is mounted on a launching platform such as a multi-copter. The mechanism includes a neutralizing element, washers (3) of considerable mass connected to the neutralizing element and slid into slit launcher rods (2) housing compression elements (4). The slit launcher rods (2) are housed into the launcher base (1) and are oriented relative to the launcher base central axis at appropriate angles. The compression elements (4) are held in a compressed state by means of a trigger wheel (5) holding the washers (3) in locked position. The trigger wheel (5) is actuated through an appropriate means such as prime mover (7) through a torque transfer arrangement (8) and shaft (6). The neutralizing element is deployed from the mechanism once triggered."
