MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621042897 A) filed by Sage University, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on April 3, for 'apparatus for enhanced solar desalination.'
Inventor(s) include Ms. Sakshi Agrawal; Prof. Kamlesh Gangrade; Ram; and Keshav Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to solar desalination apparatus. The apparatus (102) includes a unified injection-moulded base tray (104) having an evaporation basin (106) with a ribbed bottom surface (108), a perimeter collection channel (110) separated from the evaporation basin (106) by a barrier wall (112), and corner receptacles (114) formed in the tray perimeter. A modular enclosure assembly (116) includes corner posts (118) that seat within the corner receptacles (114) by friction-fit engagement and transparent panels (120) engaged with the corner posts (118) to form an enclosed vapor space (122) above the evaporation basin (106). Solar radiation transmitted through the transparent panels (120) heats the ribbed bottom surface (108), evaporating water within the evaporation basin (106). Condensed distillate drains by gravity into the perimeter collection channel (110). The apparatus (102) provides an efficient, modular solar desalination solution with simplified assembly and improved evaporation performance through ribbed bottom surface (108)."
