MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517080114 A) filed by Sensus Spectrum Llc, Wilmington, U.S.A., on Aug. 23, for 'apparatus and methods for coupling to multi core cables.'

Inventor(s) include Dames, Andrew; Piazza, Vincenzo; Broom, Michael; Hawkesford, Jamie; Cantor, Michael; Evett, James; and Haigh, James.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Apparatus and methods for coupling to a multi-core steel wire armoured cable or a multi core cable are described. The apparatus may include one or more magnets and one or more magnetic field sensors and /or may include two or more arrays of one more sensor to enable the twisting of the multiple conductors or cores to be accommodated. The apparatus is configured such that, when the apparatus is coupled to a multi-core steel wire armoured cable, a magnetic field corresponding to the one or more magnets is applied to a region of the multi-core steel wire armoured cable. The apparatus is configured such that, when the apparatus is coupled to a multi-core steel wire armoured cable, each magnetic field sensor is oriented to detect components of magnetic field originating from the region of the multi-core steel wire armoured cable."

The patent application was internationally filed on Jan. 30, 2024, under International application No.PCT/GB2024/050250.
