MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641008349 A) filed by Dr V Veena; Dr. Arunkumar Lagashetty; Dr. Sharanagouda Hiregoudar; and Dr. Ramakrishna D, Ballari, Karnataka, on Jan. 28, for 'apparatus and method for synthesis of functionalized graphene oxide nanocomposite for water treatment applications.'

Inventor(s) include Dr V Veena; Dr. Arunkumar Lagashetty; Dr. Sharanagouda Hiregoudar; and Dr. Ramakrishna D.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An apparatus and method for synthesis of functionalized graphene oxide nanocomposite comprising a precursor supply unit (100) for graphite and oxidizing agents, a reaction chamber assembly (200) including a jacketed oxidation reactor with temperature control and ultrasonic exfoliation chamber, a functionalization module (300) for metal oxide deposition, a processing and separation unit (400), and a control and monitoring system (500) with programmable logic controller and sensor array. The method comprises chemical oxidation of graphite under controlled temperature, ultrasonic exfoliation at 20-100 kHz, deposition of metal oxide nanoparticles, centrifugal separation and washing, and vacuum drying. The apparatus enables production of graphene oxide nanocomposites functionalized with metal oxides for water treatment applications including heavy metal adsorption and organic pollutant degradation."
