MUMBAI, India, Aug. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517046883 A) filed by Vmi Holland B. V., Epe, Netherlands, on May 15, for 'apparatus and method for splicing a tire component.'

Inventor(s) include Van Tienen, Luuk; De Boer, Hans; and Pieters, Erwin Jacobus Adrianus.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 22, under issue no. 34/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for splicing a leading end to a trailing end. The apparatus comprises: a splicer unit with a splicer head moveable along a splicer track for splicing the leading end to the trailing end; a tire building drum comprising a working surface for supporting the tire component, and comprising a drive for generating a correction motion of the working surface, wherein the correction motion comprises at least a first vector component in a correction direction perpendicular to the splicer track; an separator body for separating the leading end and the trailing end from the working surface, a separator drive for moving the separator body in a direction parallel to the splicer track, wherein the separator drive is configured for moving the separator body in a direction that comprises a second vector component in the correction direction perpendicular to the splicer track."

The patent application was internationally filed on Nov. 16, 2023, under International application No.PCT/EP2023/082118.
