MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517080706 A) filed by Institut Fur Solarenergieforschung Gmbh, Emmerthal, Germany, on Aug. 26, for 'apparatus and method for multispectral determination of spectral irradiance sensitivity and voltage-dependent current behavior of photovoltaic units.'

Inventor(s) include Hinken, David; Bothe, Karsten; and Schinke, Carsten.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a measuring apparatus (1) and a method for determining a spectral irradiance sensitivity SR(?) (17) and a voltage-dependent current behavior I(U) under standard sun conditions of a photovoltaic unit (3). The measuring apparatus comprises an illumination source (5), a contacting device (7), a controller (9) and an evaluation device (11). The illumination source can alternatively emit light (13) with variable spectral distributions (15) or with a standardized solar spectrum. The controller can control the illumination source for emission of the solar spectrum in a first operating mode and for progressive emission of light with a plurality of N different spectral distributions in a second operating mode. The evaluation device is configured, in the first operating mode, to determine the voltage-dependent current behavior I(U) of the photovoltaic unit (3) under the action of the standardized solar spectrum from a measured PV current Imeas and, in the second operating mode, to determine the spectral irradiance sensitivity SR(?) of the photovoltaic unit from a plurality of currents Imeas,n (n = 1...N) respectively measured during illumination with the N different spectral distributions (15), and taking account of a spectral irradiance E?,n(?) (n = 1...N) already known for each of the N spectral distributions."

The patent application was internationally filed on Feb. 13, 2024, under International application No.PCT/EP2024/053584.
