MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521104143 A) filed by Dr. Megha Juvekar; and Mr. Vineet Sisir Khamrai, Maharashtra, on Oct. 29, for 'apparatus and method for hygienic collection, neutralization, and analysis of expectorated fluid.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Megha Juvekar; and Mr. Vineet Sisir Khamrai.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 21, under issue no. 47/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses an apparatus (100) and method (200) for hygienic collection, neutralization, and disposal of expectorated fluid. The apparatus (100) comprises a flask unit (102) equipped with a dual-mode lid mechanism operable via a proximity sensor (102a) or manual actuator (102b), a control unit (104), a neutralization unit, and a disposal interface (108). Upon detecting user presence, the lid opens automatically to receive fluid, which is subsequently treated through chemical, UV, or thermal sterilization within the neutralization unit. Sensors (102c) monitor parameters such as fill level and sterilization status, while the control unit (104) regulates fluid disposal and initiates cleaning through a flush mechanism (112) with an actuation valve (114). The control unit further supports disease detection via biosensors and a machine-learning module that analyzes spitted-fluid samples, identifies pathogens, and provides alerts through a display unit (106), ensuring hygiene, safety, and intelligent health monitoring in public or clinical environments."
