MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621029288 A) filed by Sage University, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on March 11, for 'apparatus and method for autonomous temperature monitoring and alert generation.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Prashant Jain; Dr. Nidhi Tiwari; Shivam Dave; and Nandini Sameliya.

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An apparatus (100) for autonomous temperature monitoring and alert generation in agricultural cold storage environments comprises a digital temperature sensor (102), a Global System for Mobile Communications transceiver (112), a piezoelectric buzzer (114), and a hardware processor (116). The hardware processor (116) periodically commands temperature measurements, retrieves ambient temperature values, compares values against predetermined thresholds, determines violations when values fall outside defined ranges, generates alert signals transmitted via short message service to user devices (126), and activates the buzzer (114). The apparatus (100) includes a photovoltaic panel (104), charge controller circuit (106) implementing maximum power point tracking, rechargeable battery (108), and power management circuit (110) achieving grid-independent operation. The hardware processor (116) implements sleep mode operation and dynamic interval adjustment based on battery voltage extending autonomous operation exceeding thirty days. The apparatus (100) achieves reliable temperature monitoring accessible through short message service communication."
