MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641042719 A) filed by Woxsen University, Hyderabad, Telangana, on April 2, for 'antibacterial nanosheet composite and method for synthesis thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Bonita Angom; Neetu Talreja; Divya Chauhan; Sangeeta Sahu; and Mohammad Ashfaq.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An antibacterial nanosheet composite comprises BiOCl (Bismuth-Oxychloride), Cu incorporated within the BiOCl structure and Bee propolis (BPs) and a method of synthesizing the nanosheet composite including the steps of mixing Bi2O3 into deionized water (DI) and HCl solution with stirring to produce a BiOCl solution, mixing a selected amount of CuSO4 into DI water in a separate beaker, and adding the resulting CuSO4 solution into the BiOCl solution to obtain a CuSO4-BiOCl mixture, dissolving bee propolis (BPs) in DI with stirring to prepare a homogeneous BPs solution, adding the homogeneous BPs solution drop-by-drop into the CuSO4-BiOCl solution under continuous stirring, washing the produced materials several times with C2H5OH and DI to remove impurities and drying the washed materials to obtain a dried powder of the nanosheet composite material, depending on the amount of Cu-metals used."
