According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a novel topical anti-inflammatory gel formulation comprising bioactive extracts from Piper nigrum and Mentha leaves combined in a pharmaceutical gel base. The formulation harnesses the synergistic anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antioxidant properties of piperine and related alkaloids from Piper nigrum along with menthol, rosmarinic acid, and other phytocompounds from Mentha species. The gel formulation demonstrates significant reduction in inflammatory markers, improved wound healing characteristics, and enhanced bioavailability through optimized permeation enhancers. The composition exhibits effective reduction of edema, pain relief, and anti-inflammatory activity comparable to standard non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs while offering advantages of natural origin, reduced systemic side effects, and improved skin compatibility. The invention provides a safe, effective, and economical alternative for treating inflammatory conditions, muscle pain, joint discomfort, and minor skin injuries through topical application."
