MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631032103 A) filed by Narula Institute Of Technology, Kolkata, West Bengal, on March 17, for 'anti gravity auto-lifting wheelchair for divyangjan person.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Susmita Das; Jeet Adhikary; Ahona Chowdhury; and Raktim Dutta.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention provides an autonomous, multi-modal assistive mobility device for physically challenged individuals, comprising an auto-lifting seat assembly and a terrain-adaptive stair-climbing mechanism. The wheelchair utilizes an Arduino-based control system to manage a plurality of motor drivers, which actuate both a standard wheel drive and a specialized rocker-bogie conveyor belt system for staircase traversal. A gyroscopic feedback loop ensures the user remains in a stable, upright position during incline navigation. The device includes an integrated electronic lifting mechanism powered by actuators to provide variable seat height adjustment. Designed for total independence, the platform supports manual joystick control and is extensible to brain-signal interface operation."
