According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Colorectal cancer remains a major therapeutic challenge due to limited efficacy and adverse effects associated with existing chemotherapeutic agents. There is a need for novel compounds with improved efficacy and safety profiles. The present disclosure provides isatin (1H-indole-2,3-dione)-based indole derivatives, particularly isatin-Mannich base derivatives incorporating menthol and substituted aniline moieties, along with processes for their preparation and pharmaceutical compositions thereof. The disclosed compounds are synthesized via a Mannich-type reaction involving isatin, formaldehyde, and menthol, followed by reduction and condensation with substituted anilines. The compounds exhibit significant anti-cancer activity, including inhibition of tumor progression and oxidative stress, and demonstrate favourable pharmacological and safety profiles. Accordingly, the present disclosure provides effective therapeutic agents useful in the treatment and management of colorectal cancer and related proliferative disorders."
