MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611024503 A) filed by Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab, on March 2, for 'ant-shaped micro aerial vehicle for stealth surveillance and reconnaissance.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a biomimetic, ant-shaped unmanned aerial vehicle designed for covert surveillance and reconnaissance applications. The drone features a segmented body structure resembling an ant, providing natural visual camouflage and reduced detectability in urban, indoor, and outdoor environments. The system integrates silent or near-silent propulsion, an ultra-miniature imaging unit, and an artificial intelligence-based navigation module for autonomous flight and obstacle avoidance. A compact power unit with intelligent energy management enables extended operation relative to its size. The drone further supports infrared or thermal imaging and encrypted wireless communication for secure intelligence transmission."
