MUMBAI, India, March 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421040018 A) filed by Tear Smoke Unit, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, on May 22, 2024, for 'an unmanned aerial vehicle (uav) tear smoke launcher and a method therefore.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) (100) for aerially dropping a payload (202). The UAV includes a safety lock or a motor driven lock system (206-1, 206-2, ....., 206-N) for securing the payload (202). The payload comprises a plurality of munition units (204-1, 204-2, ....., 204-N). The UAV includes a launcher (208) detachably mounted on the UAV (100). The launcher, upon actuated, is adapted to drop at least one of a munition unit selected from the plurality of munition units (204-1, 204-2, ....., 204-N). The UAV includes a mount (210) which is a sliding mechanism to hold the launcher (208). The launcher (208) is configured to receive an activation input; cause the safety lock to unsecure at least one munition unit selected from the plurality of munition units (204-1, 204-2, ....., 204-N) based on the received activation input; and actuate the launcher to drop the at least one of unsecured munition unit selected from the plurality of munition units (204-1, 204-2, ....., 204-N)."
