MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521015740 A) filed by Dr. Ritesh Kumar Keshri; Mr. Vrundesh Shirish Pawde; Mr. Suman Saurav; Mrs. Sana Azmi; and Mrs. Sonalika Singh, Nagpur, Maharashtra, on Feb. 23, 2025, for 'an onboard charging system for an electric vehicle.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Ritesh Kumar Keshri; Mr. Vrundesh Shirish Pawde; Mr. Suman Saurav; Mrs. Sana Azmi; and Mrs. Sonalika Singh.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An onboard charging system for an electric vehicle An onboard charging system (100) for an Electric Vehicle (EV) is disclosed. The onboard charging system (100) comprises a dual active bridge converter (102) and a controller (120). The dual active bridge converter (102) comprises a primary bridge (106), a secondary bridge, and a planar transformer (108). The planar transformer (108) comprises a primary planar winding, a secondary planar winding, and a tertiary planar winding disposed between the primary planar winding and the secondary planar winding. The controller (120) operates the dual active bridge converter (102) in two modes. In a first mode, power flows from a grid (118) simultaneously to a main battery pack (112) via the secondary planar winding and to an auxiliary circuit (114) via the tertiary planar winding. In a second mode, power flows from the main battery pack (112) to the auxiliary circuit (114) while the EV is in motion. The onboard charging system (100) eliminates a separate auxiliary power module, thereby reducing system weight and volume."
