MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611021018 A) filed by Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Feb. 23, for 'an on-premise ai-based smart camera system and method for real-time visual intelligence and semantic understanding.'

Inventor(s) include Sneha; Pradeep Gupta; and Sonam Gupta.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses an on-premise AI-based smart camera system and method for real-time visual intelligence and semantic understanding. The system comprises network-enabled IP cameras, an edge computing unit having a GPU, a multi-core CPU, volatile memory, and partitioned local storage, configured to cooperatively execute a unified visual intelligence pipeline. Real-time video streams are decoded, processed through hardware-accelerated object detection and tracking, and transformed into structured semantic metadata using a deterministic reasoning engine. A multi-criteria best-snapshot extraction mechanism selects canonical representative frames to reduce data redundancy and enable explainable evidence generation. The entire processing is performed locally, thereby minimizing latency, reducing bandwidth consumption, and ensuring data privacy. The invention achieves technical advancement through synergistic hardware-software integration, deterministic semantic inference, and efficient on-premise visual analytics suitable for industrial safety, traffic management, and security surveillance applications."
