MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631043599 A) filed by Brainware University, Kolkata, West Bengal, on April 6, for 'an iot-enabled system and device for automated body mass index estimation and ai-based dosage determination in laboratory rodents.'

Inventor(s) include Mr. Rajesh Kumar Mukherjee; Mr. Ankan Das; Ms. Avisreeta Basak; Ms. Anushka Basu; Ms. Sampita Gain; Mr. Soumyadeep Kandar; Mr. Jyotipriya Debnath; Mr. Biplab Maity; and Dr. Dilip Kumar Roy.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an IoT-enabled system and device for automated body mass index (BMI) estimation and artificial intelligence-based dosage determination in laboratory rodents. The system comprises a measurement module including a load cell sensor for accurate body weight measurement and a length determination mechanism for capturing body length. A processing unit computes BMI values and transmits the data through a wireless communication module to a cloud-based platform. An artificial intelligence module analyzes real-time and historical data to generate optimized dosage recommendations. The system further includes a user interface accessible via mobile or computing devices for real-time monitoring and data visualization. The invention enables non-invasive, stress-free, and automated monitoring of rodents, reduces human error, enhances data accuracy, and improves efficiency and reproducibility in preclinical research and pharmaceutical applications."
