MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621024071 A) filed by Dr Tofiq Bohra; and Dr Zainab Bohra, Maharashtra, on Feb. 28, for 'an integrated retractor suction endoscope housing system and method for head & neck surgery.'

Inventor(s) include Dr Tofiq Bohra; and Dr Zainab Bohra.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An Integrated Retractor Suction Endoscope Housing System and Method for Head & Neck Surgery The present invention relates to an integrated endoscopic retractor system intended for minimally invasive maxillofacial and head and neck surgery. The system has a contoured retractor blade for atraumatic tissue displacement, an externally routed suction lumen with strategically placed distal ports for continuous removal of blood, irrigation fluid, and cautery smoke, and a dedicated scope-housing channel that can hold a 2.7 mm, 30 rigid endoscope. A proximal locking mechanism locks the endoscope in place both axially and rotationally, so that the optical orientation stays the same during surgery. The integrated design allows for retraction, suction, and stable visualization at the same time in small anatomical spaces. This means that fewer instruments are needed and assistants don't have to hold the endoscope."
