MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411071625 A) filed by Council Of Scientific And Industrial Research, New Delhi, on Sept. 20, 2024, for 'an integral double-sided absorber-emitter for solar thermal photovoltaic devices.'

Inventor(s) include Umapathi Balaji; and Nayak Priyabrata.

The application for the patent was published on April 10, under issue no. 15/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention describes an inexpensive and quick method of forming a double-sided solar absorber and thermal emitter. The top side is processed using an electrochemical method of preparing a high surface area broadband solar absorber. The opposite side of the same material is processed using laser engraving to prepare a periodic structure-based thermal emitter. The double-sided material can be tuned to efficiently collect incident radiation and emit thermal radiation in narrow band wavelengths for use in thermal photovoltaics, sensors, and energy conversion devices. The method reduces the complexity, cost, and duration of fabrication of the absorber-emitter."
